Euro Paper Talk: Liverpool have bid accepted for Van Dijk partner

Oli Fisher

Liverpool have seen a fresh bid for a Croatian World Cup star accepted, while Chelsea are preparing a sensational swap deal with AC Milan, according to Thursday’s European papers.

LIVERPOOL HAVE BID ANOTHER BID ACCEPTED

After sealing a reported £66m deal for Roma star Alisson Becker, Liverpool have reportedly had yet another bid accepted, this time for a central defender.

According to reports from Turkish outlet Aksam, Besiktas have decided to accept Liverpool’s improved bid of £20million for Croatian star Domagoj Vida.

The 29-year-old was hugely impressive for his country at the World Cup in Russia, helping Zlatko Dalic’s side reach an unlikely final berth where they eventually lost 4-2 to France.

Vida would join Croatia team-mate Dejan Lovren at Anfield and would compete with his countryman to partner Virgil van Dijk at the heart of Jurgen Klopp’s defence.

A report last week from Turkish outlet Fanatik claimed that the asking price for defender Domagoj Vida’s price tag has risen dramatically to £31m.

The same publication claim Liverpool and Everton have already submitted offers for Vida.

Turkish journalist Turgay Demir told A Spor last week: “Everton and Liverpool have made an offer for Vida.

“€15m (£13m) has been proposed but Besiktas will not consider a bid below €20m (£18m).”

Fulham and West Ham have also been linked with Vida, though it seems Liverpool may win yet another transfer battle.

MORATA-DONNARUMMA SWAP

Chelsea are hoping to use Alvaro Morata to sign keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma this summer, according to a report.

Tuttosport claim Thibaut Courtois is set to join Real Madrid and new Blues boss Maurizio Sarri will turn to Donnarumma with No.1 target Alisson heading to Liverpool for £67million.

Milan apparently wanted Morata last season when the Spain striker left Real Madrid for Stamford Bridge. And the report claims Milan need to meet FFP requirements to meet and would be happy to sell Donnarumma having already signed Pepe Reina on a free tramsfer to replace him.

The Gazzetta dello Sport say Milan directors Marco Fassone and Massimiliano Mirabelli were in London this week and had dinner with Morata.

TOTTENHAM EYE SHOCK MOVE FOR JUVENTUS HITMAN

Tottenham are reportedly interested in signing Juventus forward Gonzalo Higuain this summer.

The 30-year-old, who is also a target for Chelsea and AC Milan, joined Juve from Napoli in the summer of 2016 for £75.3 million and has gone on to score 55 goals in 105 appearances for the Old Lady.

The Argentina international is widely considered to be one of the best strikers in world football, but he will be 31 in December and at that age it would an unlikely move from Spurs chairman Daniel Levy.

However, Corriere dell Sera claims that Mauricio Pochettino is considering Higuain as he looks to strengthen his attacking options this summer.

The link is a strange one, however, as Higuain is very similar in style to prolific Spurs hitman Harry Kane and it is thought that Pochettino is chasing a more mobile, pacy attacker to compliment the England star.
