Liverpool are looking to secure the signing of a PSG star on a free transfer next summer, while Real Madrid are closing on a €60m deal for Bundesliga forward, according to Monday’s European papers.
LIVERPOOL PLAN RABIOT MOVE
Liverpool have been linked with an impressive swoop for Adrien Rabiot, according to reports in France.
The midfielder, one of the unlucky men to be left out of France’s World Cup squad, has made it clear to PSG he won’t be signing a new deal with the club after a series of talks.
Rabiot has been strongly linked with Barcelona this summer and L’Equipe on Monday reckons the LaLiga champions could yet come back in for him before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.
But it’s also claimed that Rabiot is also emerging as a target for Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp and it’s suggested the Reds could sign the player on a pre-contract agreement in January – assuming he rejects the chance to join Barca this month.
And new PSG boss Thomas Tuchel has admitted he fears Rabiot is likely to leave.
“It’s not certain if Adrien stays at PSG. It all depends on him,” he said after Sunday’s 3-0 win against Caen.
“For me he’s a great player. He can grow even more and become a top player.”
However, while Barca remain a serious option for Rabiot, the player has made no secret of his affection for Liverpool in the past and was once quoted as saying: “I would love to play in the Premier League…I was very fond of Liverpool when I was young.”
The capture of Rabiot, 23, on a free would be a serious coup for Liverpool and, having rejected a chance to extend his contract with PSG, it’ll be interesting to see if he secures a transfer away from the Parc des Princes before the month is out.
