Liverpool are ready to shatter their transfer record to sign a Sporting Lisbon star, while Man Utd could see a top target join Barcelona in a sensational swap deal, according to Wednesday’s European papers.
LIVERPOOL WANT SPORTING STAR IN RECORD SUMMER SWOOP
Liverpool are ready to shatter their transfer record to sign Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes, according to claims in the Portuguese press.
According to Portuguese newspaper A Bola, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has identified the former Sampdoria man as a perfect midfield partner for Naby Keita at Anfield next season and has instructed club bosses to open talks over a summer swoop.
Portugal international Fernandes has a €100m release clause in his Sporting contract. And it’s claimed the Portuguese giants are unwilling to discuss a reduced fee for the midfielder – meaning the potential £88m investment will shatter the club record £75m Liverpool paid for Virgil van Dijk in January.
A Bola suggest Liverpool are ready to make their move for Fernandes now after a clutch of other clubs, including Chelsea, Tottenham and Atletico Madrid, also made their interest known for the 23-year-old.
