Manchester United have been given two major boosts in their efforts to long-term target Antoine Griezmann to Old Trafford, while Kylian Mbappe’s cousin has named the PSG attacker’s next club, according to Monday’s European papers.
GRIEZMANN WANTS OUT AS BUYOUT CLAUSE DROPS
Antoine Griezmann is ready to push for a summer exit from Atletico Madrid, according to reports in Spain.
The World Cup winner signed a new deal with the Rojiblancos last summer following a long courtship from initial Manchester United and then Barcelona.
But a bad week for Atleti has seen them knocked out of the Champions League by Juventus, while their LaLiga hopes have also suffered a huge blow after Barca extended their advantage over them to 10 points.
And now a number of Spanish publications have claimed the France star is keen to move on from the Wanda Metropolitano and secure a move to a side capable of challenging for the game’s top prizes.
Furthermore, Marca has revealed that the €200m (£171m) exit clause that exists in his contract will drop to €120m (£102.6m) from June 1 and until the summer transfer window slams shut.
A number of Spanish publications claim that will be the spur for Barca to rekindle their interest in the forward – though the Daily Mirror claims Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is also willing to push the boat out to bring the former Jose Mourinho target to Old Trafford.
MAN UTD DEAL FOR MANOLAS LOOKING GOOD
Kostas Manolas has told Manchester United he is willing to sign for the club this summer following talks between his agent and the Premier League giants.
The Roma defender has carved out a reputation for himself as one of Serie A’s best defenders and Calciomercato claims United are closing in on his signing, with his exit deal still containing a bargain €35m release clause.
According to the paper, United interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made the capture of Manolas one of his top targets this summer – with the entire fee likely to be offset by the same of Eric Bailly, who has fallen a long way down United’s pecking order.
And Manolas could be just one of a number of high-profile departures at the club this season, as they continue to struggle for a top-four finish and a return to Champions League football.
The departures of manager Eusebio Di Francesco – who has been replaced by Claudio Ranieri in a short-term deal – and director of football Monchi, who has returned to Sevilla, has unsettled plenty of their big names, with the Italian paper suggesting as many as six of their stars could seek to move on this summer.
But with Manolas’ exit clause set so low, coupled with United’s interest, it seems the Greek star will be first out the door with a switch to Old Trafford very much on the horizon.
