Manchester City want a €100m-rated World Cup winner to replace Vincent Kompany this summer, while Arsenal want to bring a former Chelsea striker back to London, according to Monday’s European papers.
CITY TO LAUNCH MASSIVE RAPHAEL VARANE OFFER
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is keen to make a €100m approach for Raphael Varane – and believes the Frenchman could be a long-term replacement for the ageing Vincent Kompany.
With the veteran Belgian now in the twilight of his career, thoughts at City at turning on with whom to replace the long-serving Kompany with.
Aymeric Laporte has been superb at the heart of the City defence this season, but Kompany is regularly preferred as his central defensive partner and ahead of John Stones.
City expect Kompany to have a dwindling role next season and Don Balon reports that Pep Guardiola wants Varane signed this summer as a long-term replacement.
The World Cup winner has been mentioned as a Manchester United target, but the club’s failure to qualify for the Champions League next season makes them a far less attractive option.
The Spanish outlet even claims City could launch a double €170m raid on the Spanish giants with midfielder Toni Kroos – another reported United target – also in their sights.

DYBALA SUBJECT OF HUGE MAN UTD APPROACH
Manchester United have made an official approach for Paulo Dybala this summer, according to multiple reports in Italy.
The Argentinian looks set to be the biggest-name casualty at the Turin giants this summer, with Miralem Pjanic also likely to be sold off to the highest bidder.
It’s claimed Juventus hope to replace the duo with the signings of Adrien Rabiot and Benfica’s highly-talented teenager Joao Felix.
And according to Tuttosport and Calciomercato, United have wasted no time in contacting Argentine Dybala over a summer switch to Old Trafford.
While United cannot offer Dybala Champions League football next season, they can make make the player their highest earner (current top earners Alexis Sanchez, Paul Pogba and David De Gea all look set to leave) and have also promised to make the Argentinian forward the cornerstone of their side.
While nothing has been decided yet, it’s claimed United are willing to pay Juventus €100m to sign him this summer.
As a footnote to the story, Tuttosport also claims Bayern Munich are willing to match any United offer for Dybala and that a move to Old Trafford is far from certain at this stage.
