Manchester United and Chelsea are in talks to land a Spain international from Bayern Munich, while a Chilean star could be getting closer to a move to Old Trafford, according to Tuesday’s European press.

Manchester United and Chelsea are reportedly in talks to sign Bayern Munich star Thiago Alcantara.

The Spain international looks set to be cut loose by new Bayern boss Niko Kovac this summer and ESPN claims that both United and Chelsea have asked about the player’s situation.

The 27-year-old almost moved to Old Trafford in 2013, only for Bayern to steal a march on their European rivals to land the player from Barcelona.

Barca themselves have also been linked with a return move for the midfielder, despite the recent arrival of Gremio starlet Arthur.

United boss Jose Mourinho is still on the look out for another central midfielder, even though he has already landed Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk, while new Chelsea chief Maurizio Sarri is expected to bring in several more signings before the transfer window shuts early in the Premier League next month.

Arturo Vidal is interesting Premier League side Manchester United and his agent has flown into Munich to discuss a potential transfer, according to reports.

The Chilean was omitted from Bayern Munich’s 25-man squad that travelled to the United States on Monday for their pre-season tour.

He is rumoured to be surplus to requirements following the signing of Leon Goretzka from Schalke on a free transfer and the Red Devils and Jose Mourinho are understood to be admirers.

And Chilean newspaper El Mercurio claims that Fernando Felicevich – who is Vidal’s agent – has flown to Munich to discuss a transfer with Bayern.

Felicevich has history with the Red Devils as he helped sort out Alexis Sanchez’s move to Old Trafford in January.

And Vidal hinted on his Instagram story that there was something going on by adding a picture of his agent arriving at the airport.

AC Milan Coach Gennaro Gattuso appears to have confirmed that captain Leonardo Bonucci wants to leave the club, with both Manchester United and Juventus keen on the veteran defender.

The centre-back, who only moved to Milan from Juve last summer, has been strongly linked with a move away from the Italian giants – and it is common knowledge that Mourinho rates him very highly.

Speaking about the player’s future at a press conference in America, Gattuso admitted that the 31-year-old’s future is out of his hands.

“I’ve spoken to Leo and you need to be honest and say things as they are,” the Milan boss said.

“Leo had a meeting with me, but I am not the club and he needs to talk to the directors.

“Until he leaves my dressing room, I want to see the Bonucci I’ve seen over the last 12 days – a professional Bonucci, he is the first to push the group and he is behaving as a great captain.

“Then it will be up to Leo and the club to decide, but I hope that Bonucci can stay here. He is a player with mentality and talent.

“I think that when a player expresses a desire, the Coach must do all he can to convince him to stay.”

Bonucci is known to be one of the names being considered by Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho, along with Tottenham star Toby Alderweield, Leicester’s Harry Maguire and Bayern star Jerome Boateng, as he looks to bolster his defensive options for the upcoming season.
