Euro Paper Talk: Man Utd fighting German duo for 16-goal starlet

Date published: Friday 4th October 2019 12:00

Manchester United are one of four sides observing a free-scoring Mexican starlet, while Juventus are chasing ambitious moves for two Spurs stars – according to Friday’s European papers.

MAN UTD IN FOUR-WAY BATTLE FOR MEXICAN PROSPECT

Manchester United are interested in a January move for Mexico and Leon striker Jose Juan Macias, according to reports in Spain.

Marca believe that the 20-year-old, who has scored 16 goals in 28 appearances since joining Leon on loan from Guadalajara in December, is a target for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer – whose options up front are limited following the summer departures of Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez.

January moves for Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson and Juventus’ Mario Mandzukic have been suggested by Sky Sports, but the foreign press believe that Macias is on their radar as well.

However, United are not alone in their interest, as Mexican source Record claim that Borussia Dortmund and Real Betis scouted Macias in a recent international win over Trinidad & Tobago, as he scored on his senior Mexico debut.

Marca also say that German side FC Koln were in attendance, having admired the player from afar for some time.
