Manchester United have been knocked back in an approach for a Serie A star, while Arsenal are in pole position to sign a €40m-rated defender – all in Wednesday’s European papers.
NAPOLI REJECT MAN UTD APPROACH FOR KOULIBALY
Napoli have rejected a £90m bid from Manchester United for defender Kalidou Koulibaly, according to reports in Spain.
The 28-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford in the summer, prior to the Red Devils bringing in Harry Maguire from Leicester in an £80m deal.
Napoli president Auerelio De Laurentiis recently admitted that “the time will come” for the club to sell Koulibaly, but according to Don Balon, that time is not now.
The Spanish outlet claims that United have had a £90m bid for the centre-back rejected, which it is said could allow Real Madrid to get ahead in the race to prise him away from the Serie A.
However, the report also claims that Napoli are considering lowering their demands for the Senegal international, which could see a fresh United bid come in in the near future.
Koulibaly has appeared 10 times in the Serie A so far this season while making 226 outings for Napoli overall since joining from Genk in 2014.
