Euro Paper Talk: Man Utd to beat Arsenal to £22m Belgian

Manchester United are set to beat Arsenal to the signing of a new right-back, while a major Ole Gunnar Solskjaer target has been talking up Liverpool, according to Saturday’s European press.

Manchester United are reportedly set to beat Arsenal to the signing of PSG right-back Thomas Meunier this summer.

Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is the market for at least one new full-back, given Antonio Valencia’s exit, Matteo Darmian’s uncertain future and the fact that the versatile Ashley Young is not getting any younger.

Crystal Palace youngster has been considered, but Belgium based media outlet La Derniere Heure, claims that the 27-year-old Meunier is ‘very close’ to an Old Trafford switch – with United looking to complete a €25m (£22m) deal ‘quickly’.

It’s believed that United’s rush to push a deal through, stems from Arsenal’s continued interest in the player.

The Gunners are also expected to revamp their squad this summer, although not to the same extent as United, and Unai Emery is a big fan of Meunier.

However, if these latest reports have any truth then it would appear that United have stolen a march over their Premier League rivals.
