Manchester United will go after a deal for Bruno Fernandes in January, while Cristiano Ronaldo is linked with a sensational return to Man Utd and Real Madrid want Virgil van Dijk, according to Monday’s European papers.

MAN UTD TO GO FOR FERNANDES

Portuguese media outlet O Jogo claim Sporting are in huge trouble financially and need to bring in €65million before the end of February.

That apparently means that they are open to offers for midfielder Bruno Fernandes, who was heavily linked to Manchester United and Tottenham in the summer.

Fernandes eventually signed a new big-money contract with the Portuguese giants and he spoke about his future over the weekend.

The 25-year-old did say he has “dreams to come true”, hinting he may still look to pursue a move to the Premier League in the future.

And now, per the source, United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is ready to act quickly to make an offer to Sporting for Fernandes with the sniff of a deal in the air.

The Portuguese club apparently have a long list of creditors with £3.5m owed to Dijon for defender Valentin Rossier and £5m to Atletico Madrid for Luciano Vietto, while €22.3m is owed to other clubs, €15m is owed to other companies, with a further €10.6m to be paid to suppliers. While €19m is owed for stadium expenses.

It’s a pretty hefty debt and it all points to Sporting preparing to offload Fernandes, according to O Jogo, with his stock high after hitting nine goals this term on the back of an incredible 32-goal season, with 18 assists last season.
