Euro Paper Talk: New Chelsea boss eyes Higuain as part of €205m spree

Incoming Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri wants a €200m spree, while Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo will secure a return to Manchester United this summer, according to Monday’s European papers.

SARRI LINES UP HUGE SUMMER SPREE

The reportedly incoming Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri wants £179m to be made available for a summer squad overhaul, a report claims.

The former Napoli boss was replaced at the end of the 2017-18 season following another failed Scudetto bid, with rivals Juventus eventually pipping the Naples club to the title.

Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport claim that he is keen to bring three players with him to London from Naples, namely defenders Kalidou Koulibaly, Elseid Hysaj and midfielder Piotr Zielinski.

Sarri is expected to be named as the new Blues boss soon, though the report claims he is waiting for Roman Abramovich’s approval.

Napoli star Lorenzo Insigne did seemingly confirm that Sarri will be the next Chelsea boss in his latest interview.

Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain is also a target, and there is a possibility that Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata could be used in the deal.

RONALDO TO JOIN MAN UTD THIS SUMMER

Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo will make a return to Manchester United this summer, according to reports.

The Portugal international has had another season to remember at the Bernabeu with 43 goals in 42 matches as Los Blancos won the Champions League for the third time in a row.

However, Spanish outlet Diario Gol claims that Ronaldo has already agreed a deal to move to the Red Devils this summer.

The pre-agreement is said to be between Ronaldo’s representatives and United with no fee yet agreed with Real Madrid, which means any transfer could be a long way off.

MAN UTD SEE HUGE DEFENDER BID REJECTED

Inter Milan have rejected a pair of €60m bids from Manchester United and Manchester City for star defender Milan Skriniar, a report claims.

According to Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport, Inter has no intention of selling the Slovakian defender this summer despite interest from some elite European clubs.

Barcelona and Real Madrid have also been linked with a move for the former Sampdoria man, who joined for a fee of just €20m last summer.

Skriniar played down speculation linking him with a move away from Italy and claimed he was “happy to be at Inter”, but he did reveal a £53million offer was rejected by Inter  from an unnamed club in January.

“I know an incredible offer came in the winter,” he told Slovakian daily Sport in February.

“I left everything in my agent’s hands. I would have gone had it been for the best. I’m happy with the interest of big clubs, but at the same time I was delighted that Inter decided not to sell.

“I really like Real Madrid and Barcelona but the same applies to the two in Manchester. The Premier League is the most beautiful in the world.

“My eventual departure would depend on many things, such as the agreement between the clubs and the role I would be adopting. If I had to change just to be on the bench, or to only play in the cup, I would stay at Inter.

“There were so many rumours about me in the winter but I never considered leaving, certainly not in January. I want to continue to do well and grow. We’ll see what happens in the summer.”
