Euro Paper Talk: Real to hijack £89m move for Man Utd target; City in midfielder talks

Real Madrid are reportedly ready to hijack Barcelona’s move for Antoine Griezmann, while Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is poised to join Besiktas, according to Friday’s European papers.

REAL READY TO MAKE STUNNING GRIEZMANN MOVE

Real Madrid are reportedly ready to hijack Barcelona’s summer move for Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann.

The France international seems certain to quit Atletico following the World Cup, with a fee of €100million (£89m) being mentioned for the 26-year-old.

Atletico are ready to part ways with the player after they re-signed Diego Costa, and it was thought was Barcelona were the frontrunners for his signature, along with Manchester United.

However, Don Balon claims that Barca are no longer interested in paying out that sort of money for Griezmann, particularly as they just forked out £142m for Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho.

That would have appeared to have opened the door for United but the report goes on to state that Atletico’s arch rivals Real are now looking to sign the player.

Real have a long list of attacking targets, including the likes of Harry Kane, Eden Hazard, Paulo Dybala and Mauro Icardi but it would now appear that they have switched their focus to Griezmann.

The president of the La Liga giants, Florentino Perez, is looking to shake things up at the Bernabeu after a hugely disappointing season so far for Zinedine Zidane’s men.

Indeed, the Frenchman is likely to pay for Real’s struggles by losing his job at the end of the campaign, while main central striker Karim Benzema is also expected to move on.

That will open the door for Real to move for Griezmann, stunning both Barca and United in the race for one of Europe’s top strikers.
