Euro Paper Talk: Top Man Utd target close to PSG switch

Liverpool and Arsenal have been cleared to sign a player each from Real Madrid after the LaLiga giants targeted an €80m Valencia star, while Tottenham have been quoted an eye-watering €100m fee for a top target, according to Thursday’s European papers.

Real Madrid have contacted Valencia over a possible deal for midfielder Carlos Soler, according to reports.

And news of their interest in the Manchester United target is potentially great news for Liverpool and Arsenal, with Real clearing a pair of players to move on this summer.

Soler has a €80million clause in his deal and according to Mundo Deportivo, Real are ready to match his asking price after settling on the midfielder as a top summer target.

And AS reckons that the club will help fund the move by allowing frustrated midfielder Dani Ceballos and veteran midfielder Luka Modric to move on this summer.

Ceballos joined Real Betis last summer for a fee of €20million and Real placed a €500m buy-out clause in his contract.

However, after he failed to impress Zinedine Zidane – the Spain U21 star has made just nine appearances in LaLiga this season – the club have given him permission to move on.

Ceballos wanted to leave for Liverpool in January, but Real blocked the move.

However, after a thorough review of their strategy for the summer, the player has now been given permission to move on – and it seems Modric could be set to join him out the exit door.

Klopp has viewed Ceballos as a potential replacement for Philippe Coutinho and could look to rekindle his interest given Real are reportedly happy to waive his €500m exit fee and will seek a more modest £25million (€28.5m) for the player.

However, Roma could yet challenge Liverpool for Ceballos and Arsenal for Modric, with whom the latter has both been linked.

It’s claimed Real are hoping to collect around £35million (€40m) for Modric, despite the player turning 33 in September.

And if Real achieve their asking price for both players, it’ll mean they can meet Soler’s release without too much of an outlay as they look to remodel their squad for next season.
