Euro Paper Talk: Six teams rival Man Utd for €50m midfield maestro; Prem side want Inter hitman

Sandro Tonali TEAMtalk

Manchester United scouts will produce a glowing report of one midfield target, while West Ham want an Inter striker and Newcastle are tipped to bid for a LaLiga midfielder – according to Wednesday’s European papers.

MAN UTD ONE OF SEVEN IMPRESSED BY ITALY STARLET

Manchester United came back impressed from their scouting mission of Sandro Tonali in Brescia’s narrow loss to Juventus on Tuesday, according to Gazzetta Dello Sport.

Reports earlier in the week had suggested that United officials would travel to Lombardy to observe the midfielder in action against the Serie A champions – with a January bid of up to €50m being suggested.

Brescia lost 2-1 to Juventus, but not before taking a shock lead, which they held for most of the first half – and Gazzetta, who named Tonali as the best player on the pitch, reveal that the Man Utd scouts were pleased with what they saw.

However, the Old Trafford club are not alone in their interest in Tonali, a 19-year-old who was promoted to the Italian Under-21 side earlier this year thanks to his role in Brescia’s successful push for promotion.

According to Calciomercato.it, officials from six other clubs were in attendance at the game to watch the midfield maestro, with Premier League rivals Manchester City among them.

Italian trio Inter, Napoli and AC Milan also watched on with intrigue, while French champions PSG and German giants Borussia Dortmund were keeping tabs on the player too.
