Euro Paper Talk: Solskjaer wants £60m No.10, bargain defender to save his skin

Thomas Meunier TEAMtalk

Manchester United have been linked with a double deal to save Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s neck, while Newcastle, Crystal Palace and Everton were all scared off by the price tag of a Ligue 1 defender, all in the European papers.

MAN UTD TARGET DOUBLE DEAL

Manchester United could renew their efforts to sign Paulo Dybala, according to a report in Italy.

Corriere dello Sport claim Juventus are ready to offload the 25-year-old in January after Maurizio Sarri has decided the Argentine can not play in the same attack as Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side United and Tottenham were interested in signing the Argentine during the summer transfer window, but neither could get a deal over the line.

Juventus will likely demand in excess of £60m for the player who has just under three years left on his contract.

Real Madrid are also set to target a Dybala with Florentino Perez a big admirer, according to Don Balon, but Solskajer’s need may well be greater after United slipped to their second defeat of the season at West Ham.

Meanwhile, United are also ready to go head to head with Juventus and Arsenal for the free-transfer signing of PSG defender Thomas Meunier, 28.

Fichajes claim that at the defender will move on after becoming frustrated with his lack of playing time and with his deal expiring next summer, he will be available for a pre-contract agreement in January.
