Euro Paper Talk: Tottenham agree €35m deal for Celta Vigo star

Tottenham are finally poised to make their first signing of the summer with a €35m deal for a Celta Vigo midfielder, while Man Utd are set to trade midfielders in a €200m double deal, according to Monday’s European papers.

SPURS CLOSE ON DEAL FOR NEW MIDFIELDER

Tottenham have emerged as late favourites to sign Celta Vigo midfielder Stanislav Lobotka in a €35million deal.

The Slovakian midfielder is a man in demand this summer, with the likes of PSG, Napoli and Inter Milan all linked with moves for the player.

Celta had previously insisted the 23-year-old would not leave for a penny less than his €40m exit fee, but with none of his suitors coming forward with a concrete move, Spurs have been left with a free run at the midfielder.

Spanish paper El Desmarque now believes the player will sign for Tottenham before Thursday’s deadline, with the club having tempted the LaLiga side with a €35m offer.

He admitted earlier this summer he was open to a move away from the club, telling Diario Pravda: “The possibility (of leaving) always exists.

“I do not rule it out if there is an interesting offer that allows me to go one step further in my career.

“But right now, nothing has changed and I’m preparing for the new season.”

Lobotka joined Celta in a €5m deal from FC Nordsjaelland last summer, signing a five-year deal for the club.
