Tottenham are closing in on signing a midfield enforcer, while long-term Man Utd target Sergej Milinkovic-Savic could switch agents, speeding up a transfer, according to Wednesday’s European papers.
SPURS CONFIDENT OF SIGNING NDOMBELE
Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele will end successfully with a club-record deal, claims Football.London.
The 22-year-old midfielder enforcer is Mauricio Pochettino’s top summer target, claim the publication and now they report that confidence is growing that a deal will be struck.
Daniel Levy is understood to have been negotiating with the Ligue 1 club to deliver Pochettino his number one target, but Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas is a tough negotiator.
Yesterday Aulas told L’Equipe: “Nothing is decided for Tanguy Ndombele. We have lots of offers but they do not come up to the price we feel is right.”
MAN UTD CLOSE ON IMPRESSIVE DOUBLE SWOOP
Manchester United have opened talks with LaLiga giants Barcelona over a possible summer double deal, according to reports in Spain.
The Red Devils failed to qualify for next season’s Champions League and defence is believed to be a major area that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking to upgrade.
United have been linked with moves for a number of full-back targets including the likes of Elseid Hysaj, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Joao Cancelo, but now a new name has emerged.
The latest from Spanish outlet Don Balon states that United have registered their interest in Barcelona right-back Nelson Semedo, who has also been linked with Atletico Madrid.
The 25-year-old has failed to command a regular shirt at Barcelona since a move from Benfica in 2017 and looks set to be sold off this summer.
Don Balon go on to state that United are closing in on signing another Barca man, namely midfielder Ivan Rakitic – a player they have been strongly linked with recently.
Reports have suggested that the LaLiga giants are willing to sell after securing a deal to bring in Frenkie de Jong this summer from Ajax for €75m and see the chance to recoup a large portion of that from the sale of Rakitic, 31, as good business.
Rakitic is contracted at Barca until 2021, hence the sizeable fee, but it’s reported Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sees the Croatian as an upgrade on Ander Herrera, who left on a free transfer at the end of the season and looks likely to join PSG.
The outlet claims the players would cost a combined €115million (£102m), which given the amount that has supposedly been made available this summer for Ed Woodward and co. should not be beyond their reach.
