Euro Paper Talk: Tottenham launch club-record January bid for Turkey star

Tottenham are prepared to shatter their transfer record to sign an exciting attacker in January, while Barcelona have contacted Chelsea over a eyebrow-raising swap deal, according to Monday’s European papers.

TOTTENHAM READY €60M JANUARY RAID

Tottenham have contacted Roma over a huge club record bid for winger Cengiz Under, according to reports in Italy.

The Turkey forward hasn’t been at his best this season, but that has not stopped an army of admirers expressing their interest in the 21-year-old star.

Barcelona, Arsenal and Bayern Munich have all been mentioned as potential suitors over the past few weeks, but RAI Sports claims Tottenham lead the charge after launching a €60m offer to acquire his services in January.

The potential £52m deal would shatter Tottenham’s club record fee, beating the £42m they paid for Davinson Sanchez in summer 2017.

Tottenham have money to spend after keeping their powder dry in this summer and it will be little surprise to see them spend big when the winter window reopens.

Under joined Roma in July 2017 and has become a firm fans’ favourite in the Italian capital after scoring 11 goals in 42 games for the club.

REAL MADRID TO OFFER €180M STAR IN HAZARD BID

Real Madrid are ready to offer star forward Marco Asensio as part of a deal to land Chelsea’s Eden Hazard, a report claims.

According to Don Balon, Real president Florentino Perez has identified Hazard as the ideal successor to Cristiano Ronaldo, who departed the club for Juventus in a £99m summer deal.

Perez is apparently willing to offload 22-year-old Asensio in order to get a deal over the line, though the report suggests that any deal is unlikely to be completed in January.

This is in large part due to the fact that the interim Los Blacos boss Santiago Solari is an admirer of Asensio, and is willing to give him the rest of the season to see what he can do.

Reports in the Spanish press have previously claimed that that Liverpool had lodged a €180m bid for the Spain star, while Chelsea were also linked with a move.
