Euro Paper Talk: Mourinho set on beating Man Utd to €20m winger crying out for Prem move

Manchester United and Tottenham are battling for a €20million winger, while Leeds are working on a tricky striker deal – all in the latest Euro Paper Talk.

TOTTENHAM, MAN UTD BATTLING FOR FORSBERG

Tottenham and Manchester United are among five Premier League clubs to have been offered the chance to sign RB Leipzig winger Emil Forsberg, according to reports.

The Sweden international moved to Germany from Malmo in January 2015 and was a regular figure in his first two-and-a-half seasons with Leipzig, missing just seven league games during that period.

However, his game time began to decrease in the 2017/18 campaign, when he appeared in only 21 of 34 league games and that trend has continued into this season.

As such, the 28-year-old has revealed to German newspaper SportBild (via Sport Witness) that he is looking for a move away from the club.

He said: “It’s not going well. I don’t have to prove myself anymore. I have a contract, but everyone knows that I dream of playing in another league again.”

The newspaper continues by adding that Forsberg, who has one year remaining on his current deal with Leipzig, has a €20million price tag and has been offered to Everton, Leicester and Arsenal as well as United and Spurs.

As for where Forsberg could end up, SportBild journalist Yvonne Gabriel told Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet (via Sport Witness) that Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho is keen on the winger and could look to beat his rivals to the signing.

The journalist said: “Jose Mourinho likes Emil Forsberg. Mourinho was clear after the first match between Tottenham and Leipzig in the Champions League.

“[The] Premier League is a conceivable address or why not Milan if Emil Forsberg’s former coach Ralf Rangnick becomes new coach for AC Milan?

“I’m sure Emil Forsberg will find a good, new club. His future just isn’t in RB Leipzig anymore.”
