Jose Mourinho will demand a Real Madrid player in return if Man United lose David de Gea, while Chelsea have a bid turned down for a Juventus striker, all in today’s Euro Paper Talk.
MOURINHO TO DEMAND VARANE IN DE GEA DEAL
Jose Mourinho won’t let David de Gea leave Manchester United without receiving a Real Madrid star in return, according to reports.
The Red Devils keeper is once again on the radar at the Santiago Bernabeu and the club are set to renew the pursuit of the Spanish international.
Don Balon claims that Mourinho will only let De Gea go to the Champions League winners if the include a top player as part of the deal with Raphael Varane being his preferred choice.
United have already strengthened at centre-back this summer with the arrival of Victor Lindelof from Benfica but it is understood that Mourinho is still keen to improve in defence.
Chris Smalling and Phil Jones reportedly have uncertain futures at Old Trafford and, with Real still wanting De Gea, United will look to take advantage of their interest.
The report continues by saying that Leonardo Bonucci’s move to AC Milan could hamper any chance of United signing Varane with Bonucci one of Real’s key summer targets.
JUVENTUS TURN DOWN £88M BID FOR HIGUAIN
Chelsea’s search for a striker continues after missing out on Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United last week.
Tuttosport claims that the Blues have turned their attention towards Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain with their initial offer immediately rejected by the Turin-based outfit.
The bid was thought to be €100m (£88m) with Antonio Conte keen to tie up a deal with his former club for the Argentinian.
Lukaku joined the Red Devils last week for an initial £75million, while any move from Chelsea for Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata seems to have hit the buffers.
Juve’s CEO Beppe Marotta is reportedly unwilling to let Higuain go as they have already let star defender Leonardo Bonucci join Serie A rivals Milan.
Higuain scored 32 goals in all competitions last campaign for the Bianconeri and they are reluctant to lose their star striker.
