Euro Paper Talk: Pivotal agent ploy puts Man Utd on path to big rival tussle for La Liga star
Manchester United receive a boost over a transfer for a La Liga star through his agent, while Everton eye a Roma signing – both in all the latest Euro Paper Talk.
MAN UTD IN DEMBELE TRANSFER TUSSLE
Manchester United and Juventus are still in the background ready to snap up Ousmane Dembele amid uncertainty over his Barcelona future, according to a report.
The 24-year-old has endured a mixed time of his spell at the La Liga club since his move in 2017. Indeed, injuries have largely kept him at bay. Last season, he enjoyed a fantastic term, but injury at Euro 2020 with France has kept him out so far this campaign.
As a result, the final year of his contract has come around with uncertainty over whether he will extend.
Reports last month claimed that Man Utd have already opened talks with Dembele’s representatives over his future.
According to the latest from Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona president Joan Laporta feels ‘optimistic’ that the winger will sign a new contract until 2024.
Manchester United urged to move for PSG's Marco Verratti
Manchester United have been urged to move for PSG's Marco Verratti by former winger Ashley Young, with more updates on Atletico Madrid's Kieran Trippier, and midfielder Paul Pogba.
Laporta spoke ‘personally’ to Dembele and got the feeling that the player wants to get his career – and Barcelona – back on track.
Despite that, Barcelona chiefs fear that the winger’s agent is ‘delaying’ talks in a bid to get their client a move next summer.
That could prove pivotal as the report claims that Dembele may soon see the idea of moving clubs become ‘too great a temptation’.
Alongside that, United and Juventus are reportedly tempting the player and his agent with offers.
Dembele has played 118 games for Barcelona since his move from Borussia Dortmund, scoring 30 goals and assisting 21 others.
