Manchester United can sign Edinson Cavani’s replacement in a cut-price £26m deal this summer, while Tottenham could be scuppered in their bid to sign a new centre-back – both in Friday’s Euro Paper Talk.
MAN UTD BARGAIN STRIKER DEAL ON
Manchester United can reportedly sign Eintracht Frankfurt striker Andre Silva for €30m (£26m) this summer, lower than previously thought.
That’s according to Sport 1 (via Sport Witness), who claim that the Portuguese attacker has an agreement in place with the Bundesliga outfit can leave for that amount if any suitors register an interest.
Silva has been in superb form for Frankfurt this season, with 24 goals in 28 Bundesliga outings. Only Bayern Munich frontman Robert Lewandowski is ahead of him in scoring stakes in Germany.
That sparkling form has seen a number of top European clubs sit up and take notice, including United.
Previous reports had stated that Silva would cost nearer to €40m (£36m) to sign Silva, but Sport 1 clearly thinks otherwise.
The report adds that while the 25-year-old does not have an actual release clause in his contract, there is an agreement in place between him and the club to leave for €30m.
That sort of fee will be music to United’s ears, given that they also need to strengthen other areas of the team.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is also after a new centre-back, with Raphael Varane on his radar, as well as right winger.
The potential addition of Silva would rule United out of the chase for Erling Haaland and leave the door open for the likes of Manchester City, Real Madrid and Chelsea to strike.
