Tottenham have already hatched a plan to find a perfect Gareth Bale successor, while a Manchester City man’s exit from the club is under threat – both in the latest Euro Paper Talk.

SPURS EYE ELECTRIC WINGER RAID

Tottenham have stepped up their efforts to sign Wolves winger Adama Traore amid Gareth Bale’s continuing frustrations in north London, according to a report.

Bale made one of the headlines of the last transfer window by moving back to Spurs on loan from Real Madrid.

But despite featuring in three of four Premier League matches after recovering from a knee injury which he had upon signing, the Welshman has played only 45 minutes in the past 10 games.

As well as suffering calf problems, he has remained either on the bench or not in the squad in that time.

As such, Don Balon claims that such a ‘disappointment’ has ‘intensified’ Spurs’ interest in Traore. The 24-year-old faces an uncertain future at Wolves as his stand-off over a new contract continues.

Indeed, reports last year claimed that the Molineux club had become ‘annoyed’ at the winger for stalling. In addition to his off-field situation, he continues to be linked with a move elsewhere.

Don Balon claims that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is willing to pay around €50million (£44.5million) for Traore next summer.

However, Spurs could well fall out of the race with Manchester United, Liverpool and Manchester City also keen.

While Spurs could be an attractive proposition, their top-flight rivals could offer a higher transfer fee or a better salary.

In any case, Spain international Traore has his eye on the 2022 World Cup and wants a move. His contract with Wolves runs out in the summer of 2023.
