Chelsea are ready to make a £43million move for a highly-rated Lyon midfielder, while one Liverpool star is plotting a summer exit, according to Friday’s Euro Paper Talk.
CHELSEA TO MOVE FOR LYON ACE
Chelsea are reportedly plotting a summer move for highly-regarded Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar.
Frank Lampard is planning to make drastic changes to his squad this summer with reports earlier this week claiming that he willing to sell as many as eight players.
The Stamford Bridge outfit were unable to buy players last summer due to their FIFA-imposed transfer ban, but that ban was lifted in January – only for Chelsea to decided against any additions.
According to Italian outlet Tuttomercato, the Blues are ‘serious’ about bringing Aouar to Stamford Bridge in the summer in a deal that could cost €50miillion (£43m).
Aouar has emerged as one of the most exciting prospects in the game at Lyon and he had previously attracted interest from Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal.
He played a starring role in Lyon’s 1-0 win over Juventus in the Champions League last-16 on Wednesday night, with the 21-year-old scoring nine goals and contributing seven assists so far this season.
Aouar could be the first of many new signings in west London, with RB Leipzig centre-back Dayot Upamecano and Leicester left-back also being tipped to join Chelsea.
Among those players expected to be moved on are Kepa Arrizabalaga, Ross Barkley, Jorginho, Marcos Alonso, Emerson, Kurt Zouma, Willian and Pedro.
