Arsenal have taken steps to bring in two exciting new signings this summer as replacements for two of their established stars, Jose Mourinho already has his next job lined up, while Tuesday’s Euro Paper Talk claims Manchester United are targeting a talented Senegalese youngster.
EMERSON ROYAL, PLEA ON ARSENAL RADAR
Arsenal are in the market to sign co-owned Barcelona and Real Betis right-back Emerson Royal this summer, claims a report.
The Gunners will likely sacrifice Hector Bellerin at the end of the season. The Spaniard looks poised to join PSG in a deal that could rake in €25m.
And it seems Edu has identified Emerson as his No 1 replacement for the long-serving Bellerin.
As per Fijaches, Arsenal’s technical director has already made enquiries over the 22-year-old. He moved to Spain with Betis in January 2019. However, as part of his €12.9m arrival, Barcelona secured the option to sign the player for €6m this summer under an unusual co-ownership deal.
But with Barcelona’s finances stretched, they seem unlikely to take up that option. As a result, they state the Gunners could swoop to lure him from Betis for a bargain fee.
The Gunners are also keen on Borussia Monchengladbach forward Alassane Plea. The same Spanish outlet claims the once-capped France striker has been identified as a successor to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang or Alexander Lacazette.
Plea has 35 goals in 105 games for Gladbach following his arrival from Nice in 2018. Capable of playing across the frontline, Plea would likely cost in the region of €35m. However, that cost will be offset by the sale of either Aubameyang or Lacazette. The duo both face uncertain futures at the club. Lacazette has just a year left on his deal and recently spoke on his future.
Aubameyang, meanwhile, has struggled for form this season since signing a bumper new deal and could be shown the door.
