Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp have a new priority summer signing in mind, while Lionel Messi has identified the two dream signings he wants Barcelona to make this summer, according to Thursday’s Euro Paper Talk.
KLOPP PREFERS DEAL FOR RASHICA OVER HAVERTZ
Jurgen Klopp is reportedly ready to make Werder Bremen midfielder Milot Rashica his top summer target – placing the Kosovan star ahead of Kai Havertz on his wanted list this summer.
The Liverpool boss is expected to bolster his squad this summer having kept his powder relatively dry during the last couple of transfer windows and was thought to have made Timo Werner and Havertz his preferred options.
And while a deal for Werner looks to be on the cards after the striker admitted he was hankering after a switch to Anfield, a move for Havertz seems far more complicated – despite Bayer Leverkusen’s admission that the talented playmaker could be allowed to depart this summer.
The main cause for concern around Havertz is the fact that Liverpool would have to shatter their transfer record to sign the 20-year-old, with the Germany midfielder expected to command a fee of around €100m this summer.
Furthermore, there is expected to be a long queue of suitors to sign Havertz, with the likes of Real Madrid, Manchester United and PSG also expected to come in for the player.
Liverpool have shown in recent windows they’d prefer to get deals wrapped up quickly – as exemplified by the signings of Takumi Minamino and Virgil van Dijk with both announced prior to their respective transfer windows opening – and believe they have a strong chance of doing the same with Rashica.
According to According to Christian Falk of Bild, Klopp very much fancies Rashica and his €38m exit clause (£31.6m) very much appeals to the club and would be something they would have little trouble in meeting.
The Kosovan has bagged 10 goals and four assists in all competitions for the northwest German club so far this season and it’s reported that Klopp sees Rashica – compared in the past (favourably it must be added) by Bundesliga.com to Manchester United flop Alexis Sanchez – as someone who could prove a genuine asset to the Premier League champions-elect and a ready-made replacement for the departing Adam Lallana in their squad.
