Leeds are keen to sign a Barcelona midfield general after being quoted a modest price, while Chelsea are edging closer to transfer number eight of the summer, according to Saturday’s Euro Paper Talk.
BARCELONA STAR RAFINHA NEXT FOR LEEDS
Leeds are reported to have contacted Barcelona over a deal for Rafinha Alcantara.
The midfielder has just completed a season-long loan deal with Celta Vigo, but is back at his parent club.
However, it’s unlikely to be for long with Barca looking to offload the Brazil midfielder.
Arsenal and Everton have been linked, but according to Sport, it is Leeds United who now lead the chase.
They claim Marcelo Bielsa is keen on a deal for the 27-year-old, who has also played for Inter Milan in his time.
Bielsa and director of football Victor Orta are busy assembling a squad capable of holding their own in the Premier League. Rodrigo Moreno and Robin Koch have already signed – and remain hopeful of two more, including Rodrigo De Paul.
However, they also believe Rafinha would be a useful addition given his experience and versatility.
More to the point, the €16m (£14.2m) Barcelona are seeking for Rafinha would not put them off, either.
Leeds travel to Liverpool in their Premier League opener a week today.
He could, ironically, come up against his brother with Thiago Alcantara strongly linked with Liverpool.
