Euro Paper Talk: Milan man offered double-your-money deal by Man Utd

Hakan Calhanoglu, Frank Kessie

Manchester United have put a concrete offer on the table for a Milan star and are also making plans for a San Siro teammate, while Atletico Madrid have dropped out the running to sign a Leeds target, according to Friday’s Euro Paper Talk.

BIG OFFER ON TABLE FOR CALHANOGLU

Manchester United are inching closer to a deal to sign Hakan Calhanoglu, according to reports.

Gazzetta dello Sport claims that the Turkey international has reached a ‘bottleneck’ over his future in Italy.

Indeed Calhanoglu has entered the final year of his contract and so far, he is reportedly unlikely to extend his terms.

Milan have offered him a proposal worth €3million (£2.7million) per season to stay in Serie A. However, the 26-year-old currently earns €2.5million (£2.2million) and wants more from his club.

What’s more, he feels that he deserves a more lucrative contract after playing a key role under Stefano Pioli.

Now it seems United have made their move and have offered to more than double the 26-year-old’s current salary.

The No 10 earns a modest £45k a week at the San Siro right now. But Todofichajes claim United’s offer to the player is worth £100,000 a week. That’s more than double his current package. Furthermore, United have also reportedly offered a five-year deal, as opposed to Milan’s three.

With Calhanoglu available on a free next summer, it’s claimed United see the player as an ‘ideal’ signing. It’s reported they could even look to snare him in January if he continues to resist Milan’s offers. A modest fee could do the trick for United.

Furthermore, United could offer either Juan Mata or Jesse Lingard as bait. The pair have fallen down the pecking order at United and have been linked with Milan in the past.

UNITED LOOK TO BRING BACK DIOGO DALOT

Calhanoglu isn’t the only Milan player who could have a future in the red half of Manchester.

As per Fabrizio Romano, United have been keeping a close eye on the progress of Diogo Dalot since his loan switch to the San Siro.

Many felt Dalot’s time at Old Trafford was up when he was allowed to move on.

By contrast, Romano claims United still see a future for him at United. Furthermore, Solskajer and his staff believe the temporary stint at Milan can smooth his passage into the United reckoning.
