Euro Paper Talk: Liverpool to beat Man Utd and Tottenham to £44m star Klopp’s wanted since 2020; Mbappe to join Haaland in unplayable new front three

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp

Liverpool are ‘ready to offer’ £44m to beat Man Utd and Tottenham to an in-demand Dutchman, while Kylian Mbappe could link up with Erling Haaland to form a stunning new forward line in 2024 – both in Friday’s Euro Paper Talk.

THREE-YEAR PURSUIT TO PAY OFF FOR LIVERPOOL?

Liverpool are ‘at the forefront’ of clubs chasing Torino defender Perr Schuurs, with a mooted summer bid coming to ward off the threat being posed by Man Utd and Tottenham, per a report.

Schuurs, 23, joined Torino from Ajax last summer. The Dutchman wasted no time in establihsing himself among Serie A’s top centre-halves, though his stay in Italy could be a short one.

TuttoSport (as cited by Sport Witness), report Schuurs has admirers in Liverpool, Man Utd and Tottenham.

But of the three, it’s claimed Jurgen Klopp’s Reds are the ones primed to act on their interest.

Liverpool are deemed ‘ready to offer’ €50m (approx. £44m) to bring Schuurs to Anfield this summer.

His arrival could coincide with the anticipated twin exits of Nat Phillips and Joel Matip.

It’s claimed Klopp has closely followed Schuurs for three years dating back to 2020. Until now, he’d never ordered a move be made, though fresh interest by United and Spurs is forcing Liverpool’s hand.

From Torino’s perspective, it’s claimed the Serie A side are fully aware they’ll struggle to retain Schuurs if and when an English side offers to double his salary.

The opportunity to play in the Champions League also appeals to the player. As such, the onus is now on Liverpool to produce a late surge and finish inside the top four.

The player’s agent has already made Torino aware many ‘juicy offers’ are on the table and Liverpool are seemingly front and centre among them.

MBAPPE, HAALAND, VINICIUS JR…

Real Madrid are ‘confident’ they’ll sign Erling Haaland to replace Karim Benzema in 2024. A bid is already being prepared, with Los Blancos hoping to forge an all-star front three consisting of Vinicius, Jr, Haaland and Kylian Mbappe. To free up funds for the colossal outlay on wages, Toni Kroos, Luka Modric and Eden Hazard will all depart at the end of next season. (AS)
