Liverpool have new belief they can land Rodrigo de Paul this summer, a crazy bid is being planned to prise Bruno Fernandes from Man Utd, while Thursday’s Euro Paper Talk claims Man City will sign a AC Milan man for €40m.
DE PAUL WARNING FOR DETERMINED LIVERPOOL
Udinese have sent Liverpool a warning over Rodrigo de Paul amid claims they were inching closer to his signing this summer.
The Reds are in the market for a top-class midfielder to replace reliable cog Georginho Wijnaldum. The Dutchman admitted this week he’d be “devastated” to leave Anfield. But with now just over three months left on his deal, a free-transfer exit looks increasingly likely.
Both players would offer Liverpool a potential like-for-like replacement. However, it’s believed Klopp and sporting director Michael Edwards fancy De Paul, with two from Jordan Henderson, Thiago and Fabinho, as part of a midfield three.
Indeed, reports in Italy claim Liverpool have made De Paul their top target. Furthermore, the Argentinian is said to warming to the idea of a move to Anfield and to play for Klopp.
Aware of Liverpool’s growing interest, general director Pierpaolo Marino has sent a warning to the Reds. He says Udinese will seek a “considerable sum of money” for their star man, as well as keeper Juan Musso – another wanted man.
“It takes a lot of money to get them, but it’s not like we went looking for potential buyers.
“I don’t have the problem of needing to advertise them,” he told Radio Marte. “If someone doesn’t realise how strong they are, selfishly, it’s better for me.”
It’s reported that bidding for the Leeds-linked Argentine is likely to start at €35m, with Udine seeking nearer €40m.
The likes of Leeds, Inter and Juventus have also been linked with De Paul. But it now seems that the Reds are in the driving seat for the 26-year-old.
