Liverpool are nearing the signing of the £34m star they want to replace Georginio Wijnaldum, Daniel Levy will allow a Tottenham man to link up with Jose Mourinho at Roma, while Wednesday’s Euro Paper Talk names the club Hector Bellerin will sign for this summer.
DE PAUL TO LIVERPOOL TALK PROGRESSES
Liverpool are reported to be edging increasingly closer to the signing of Rodrigo de Paul from Udinese this summer.
The Udinese star was strongly linked with Leeds last summer as they prepared for their return to the Premier League. His asking price of €35m was too steep for Leeds, meaning a bid never materialised. However, they continue to be linked and he remains a player of interest to Marcelo Bielsa’s side.
However, there is a strong interest in the player from Serie A, with AC Milan joining Inter and Juventus in the hunt.
Were Udinese to sell to a Serie A rival, they would demand €40m for a player at the peak of his powers. And that asking price appears to have scared the trio off, meaning a move to the Premier League now looks likely.
Indeed, as per Il Milanista, it is Liverpool who lead the charge. They are in the market for a replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum in midfield. And while far more attack-minded, it seems Liverpool look set to get their man.
As per the article, Liverpool have already set the wheels in motion over a deal. And it’s claimed they have had ‘repeated contact’ over a swoop.
It’s believed Liverpool will pay Udinese four instalments for De Paul, totally £34m and depending on success. That will likely include a downpayment of £15m.
De Paul to change Liverpool system
And De Paul will be expected to add a fresh dimension to Jurgen Klopp’s side. They have struggled badly during their title defence this season and face a fight to the finish for the top four.
The Argentina star reportedly favours a move to Anfield, despite Calciomercato claiming new interest from Atletico Madrid.
De Paul has nine goals and 10 assists in 34 Serie A matches this season and is viewed as one of Serie A’s top performers.
