GLEISON BREMER SET FOR LIVERPOOL AS JOE GOMEZ REPLACEMENT

Liverpool are reportedly willing to meet Torino’s asking price for defender Gleison Bremer.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is in the market for a new centre-half this summer with Joe Gomez agitating for a move away. Indeed, the popular defender – described recently by the German as “unfortunate” – is reportedly on Tottenham’s radar.

Gomez was a regular for Liverpool alongside Virgil van Dijk before a cruel knee injury struck him down. That saw him miss England’s run to the Euro 2020 final – and also saw him fall down the pecking order at Anfield.

The Reds brought in Ibrahima Konate in the summer. Meanwhile, February’s Premier League Player of the Month, Joel Matip, is in the form of his career.

That has left Gomez kicking his heels and seeking a move elsewhere. As such, his exit is likely to generate funds of around £30m.

The cash, though, is unlikely to burn a hole in Liverpool’s pockets for long.

Indeed, Klopp has tasked incoming sporting director Julian Ward with finding a replacement. Indeed, Ward steps up from his role as deputy to Michael Edwards when the latter departs on June 30.

Price set for Gleison Bremer

And now, according to Tuttomercatoweb, the Reds are firmly in the hunt for Bremer.

Despite recently signing a new deal, they claim Torino have fixed his price at £25.25m (€30m) this summer.

However, reports are indicating that it is Liverpool leading the race, with the 24-year-old Brazilian a ready-made replacement for Gomez.
