Liverpool are trying to convince Barcelona into a loan deal for an attacker, while Newcastle are in a three-way battle for an Atletico Madrid outcast – all in Friday’s Euro Paper Talk.
KLOPP PUSHING FOR WINGER DEAL
The France attacker has struggled to make his mark in LaLiga, mainly due to a series of injury issues, and has been strongly tipped to move on before the window shuts next month.
Jurgen Klopp is keen to add proven back-up for wide men Mo Salah and Sadio Mane, and views Dembele as the perfect signing in that regard.
The report adds that the Reds have already been in touch with the Catalan side regarding the move, and it now remains to be seen how Barcelona respond to the enquiry.
Dembele is not considered a key player for Ronald Koeman and a loan move is thought to be ideal for all parties.
Indeed, with Philippe Coutinho back from his loan spell at Bayern and impressing in pre-season, it would appear that Dembele’s game time will be even more limited this season.
Liverpool have so far brought in left-back Kostas Tsimikas this summer, while midfielder Thiago Alcantara is expected to complete his move from Bayern Munich over the weekend.
The Reds are back in action when they face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
