Liverpool have been given a major boost in their hunt to sign a Bayern star as a report has revealed he is now available for transfer, a Manchester United player will leave Old Trafford ‘very soon’, while Monday’s Euro Paper Talk includes Aston Villa trying to land a Barcelona forward.

LIVERPOOL DELIGHT AS BAYERN MAKE EXIT DECISION

Jurgen Klopp could bring in a top-class Bayern star for Liverpool as the German giants have opted to put him up for sale, as per a report.

Liverpool have signed two players so far this summer, with Alexis Mac Allister arriving from Brighton for an initial £35million and Dominik Szoboszlai joining from RB Leipzig in a £60m deal.

The Reds hope to complete their midfield overhaul with the addition of Southampton’s Romeo Lavia. They have already had a £37m bid for Lavia rejected and have been told they will have to increase that offer to £50m for Southampton to sell.

But midfield is not the only position Klopp must improve if Liverpool are to get back in the top four next season and also win more silverware. He needs to improve his defensive ranks and Bayern’s Benjamin Pavard could be the perfect solution.

The Frenchman can play as a right-back, which means his signing would allow Trent Alexander-Arnold to operate in a new midfield role. But Pavard can also operate in central defence, meaning he could provide backup and competition for the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate and Joel Matip.

Various sources have backed Liverpool to make a move for Pavard in recent months. And according to the latest from German source Kicker, Liverpool have a good chance of making that move happen.

It is claimed that Bayern are desperate not to have a repeat of the David Alaba situation when it comes to Pavard. Alaba rejected several contract offers from Bayern in order to run down his contract and join Real Madrid on a free in summer 2021.

As Pavard’s current deal with the reigning Bundesliga champions expires in June 2024, there is the prospect of this happening again. To prevent this, Bayern have put Pavard up for sale and will resultantly consider offers for him.

Benjamin Pavard wanted by Liverpool, Man City

There is only a very small chance of the 27-year-old agreeing fresh terms at the Allianz Arena as he would like to take part in a new challenge. And he has repeatedly spoken about his dream of playing in the Premier League, which he could achieve by moving to Anfield.

The only trouble for Klopp is that Liverpool are not alone in chasing Pavard. The 2018 World Cup winner is also on Manchester City’s radar.

On July 14, Fabrizio Romano handed Liverpool some bad news by revealing Pavard to be a ‘priority’ for City. Pep Guardiola seemingly wants him as a replacement for Kyle Walker, should the England international leave City on a free this summer. Interestingly, Pavard and Walker could go in opposite directions as Bayern hope to land the latter.

Due to rival interest from City, Liverpool will have to send Pavard a big contract offer to convince him to join them first. The Merseyside outfit may also ask Klopp to speak with Pavard and convince him on the project.
