Euro Paper Talk: Ruthless Liverpool shove Palace aside in race to sign €40m Serie A centre-back; Ancelotti drops telling Real hint over Mpabbe move

Torino star Perr Schuurs is wanted by Liverpool and Palace

Liverpool are ready to barge Crystal Palace out of the way in their effort to sign a Torino centre-back this summer, while Carlo Ancelotti has given a strong indication over whether Real Madrid will actively pursue a big-money deal for PSG outcast Kylian Mbappe – all in Thursday’s Euro Paper Talk.

KLOPP PUSHES PAST PALACE FOR TORINO STAR

Liverpool are reportedly ready to push Premier League rivals Crystal Palace to one side in their chase for Torino centre-back Perr Schuurs this summer.

The Dutchman emerged as a major target for the Reds earlier in the window, only for Palace to then launch a surprise bid of their own for the Serie A defender.

Indeed, Tuttopsort reported on July 13 that Eagles boss Roy Hodgson ‘expressly indicated’ the Selhurst Park outfit to sign Schuurs, with an offer put on the table.

But now Toto.it states that Liverpool have not given up on signing the Torino star and are ready to muscle their way ahead of Palace to get a deal done.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has identified Schuurs to play alongside his compatriot, Virgil van Dijk, on Merseyside.

However, the 23-year-old’s contract runs until 2026 with the option to extend for a further year and he will not come cheap.

Torino not backing down on Schuurs asking price

Indeed, the report adds that Torino chairman Urbano Cairo has set a €40million (£34.3m) asking price, which is why the negotiations with both Liverpool and Palace have stalled.

For his part, Schuurs is aware of the interest he has from the two English clubs and is ‘not sure’ if he’ll stay at Torino beyond this window.

It’s now just a matter of whether either Premier League is willing to get near to Torino’s valuation, although the fact that the Reds will be playing in Europe this season gives them the edge if a fee is agreed.

The Netherlands Under-21 international is also a threat from set-pieces, having scored 19 goals in 222 club career appearances so far.
