Euro Paper Talk: Liverpool, Bayern target Kai Havertz picks his next club

Liverpool and Bayern Munich midfield target Kai Havertz has seemingly picked his next club, while Tottenham are hopeful of signing a £40m centre-back – according to Thursday’s European papers.

LIVERPOOL TARGET HAVERTZ MAKES HIS MIND UP

Bayer Leverkusen’s Kai Havertz looks like he is ready to snub Liverpool after Sky in Germany claimed the midfielder wants to join Bayern Munich once the transfer window opens again.

The 20-year-old enjoyed a sensational breakout campaign in 2018-19, scoring 20 goals and registering seven assists – earning himself a call up to the senior Germany squad as a result.

And although he has so far struggled to recapture that for this time around, there is still major interest from the Reds and Bayern in the impressive youngster.

Indeed, the German giants are looking to rebuild their squad this summer and the report claims that Bayern manager Hans-Dieter Flick is keen to bolster his midfield ranks and sees Havertz as the ideal signing.

Leverkusen want around £100m for Havertz and are keen to generate as much money for him as they can, despite a stark warning from the Bundesliga CEO Christian Seifert, who suggested the summer transfer window could “collapse” amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham are among the Premier League clubs understood to have been monitoring Havertz in recent months, but Liverpool still remain the favourites to bring the player to England – if he changes his mind.

Havertz is currently contracted to Leverkusen until 2022, having signed a five-year deal back in July 2017.
