Euro Paper Talk: Liverpool target outstanding £165m triple midfielder coup; Leeds bid for Real Madrid striker; Man City to sign another world-class star
Jurgen Klopp is pushing to sign three new midfielders in a combined £165m raid for Liverpool, Leeds are looking to sign a 86-goal Real Madrid striker, while Thursday’s Euro Paper Talk claims Napoli expect Manchester City to prise away a top talent this summer.
KLOPP EYES DYNAMIC NEW MIDFIELD TRIO TO REVITALISE LIVERPOOL
Jurgen Klopp has reportedly decided on the three new midfielders he wants to bring to Liverpool this summer.
The Reds have fallen off their lofty perch this season and will finish the season without silverware. And while they have resdiscovered their form in the Premier League of late, their late push for the top four may well come too late.
As a result, Klopp accepts he badly needs fresh faces to be signed this summer to boost his flagging midfield.
Indeed, with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita leaving, Klopp will target at least two new additions there this summer. However, that department of their side is ageing rapidly. And with James Milner, Jordan Henderson and Thiago all 32 years and older, some fresh legs are very much needed.
Now Klopp reportedly plans to revitalise the area by snaring three top new players to Anfield this summer.
Top of their wishlist is Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella, with Klopp ready to pay a huge £75m for.
He is enjoying an excellent season on a personal level, leading Inter into the Champions League semi-finals. However, financial issues for the Nerazzurri, together with a failure to qualify for next season’s UCL, will force his sale.
Liverpool want Yunus Musah and Mason Mount along with Barella
Liverpool interest in signing Mason Mount is also well documented. The England star is poised to leave Chelsea with his deal due to expire in summer 2024 and talks over an extension breaking down.
Per Football Insider, Liverpool have a strong belief they can secure his signing this summer. The 24-year-old is also reportedly on Arsenal, Newcastle and Manchester United’s radar. However, a move to Anfield appears most likely with a fee of £65m already being discussed.
With Mount a No 10 and Barella the archetypal No 8, Klopp wants to complete his new-look midfield with a move for a quality No 6.
And Valencia star Yunus Musah is reportedly emerging as his third top target.
The 20-year-old former Arsenal man has established himself as one of Valencia’s leading lights since moving to Spain.
However, they currently sit in the relegation places and are in danger of demotion to La Segunda. Were that to happen, a number of their top stars will move on.
Now reports in Spain claim Liverpool and Inter are chasing a deal for USA midfielder Musah.
He is reportedly one of Klopp’s ‘great requests’ this summer and is seen as ‘fitting in perfectly’ with the Reds.
And while Inter Milan are also seemingly keen, it is Liverpool who have reportedly shown ‘most interest’ in his signing.
A deal in the region of £25m will reportedly convince them to cash in, with the triple splash setting Liverpool back a combined £165m.
