Euro Paper Talk: Man Utd rival Arsenal, Tottenham in hunt for classy €30m playmaker; Newcastle raid for Liverpool legend takes leap forwards
Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham will battle for PSV attacker Xavi Simons this summer, Bayern Munich are open to letting Sadio Mane leave amid interest from Newcastle, while Thursday’s European Paper Talk claims Napoli have just slapped a £155m valuation on Victor Osimhen.
MAN UTD EMERGE IN THREE-WAY BATTLE FOR XAVI SIMONS
Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham are reportedly ‘in the race’ for PSV Eindhoven attacker Xavi Simons.
The 20-year-old is widely considered to be one of the most promising midfielders in Europe. Also, it’s thought he is keen on a move to a bigger club.
Last summer, PSV signed Simons from Paris Saint-Germain. Since, he has made 48 appearances for the Dutch giants, scoring 22 goals and making 12 assists.
His fine form has caught the attention of several top European clubs, with Arsenal being the first Premier League side to register an interest.
But, Paris Saint-Germain have a buyback clause of €6m inserted in his contract.
With that in mind, any other potential suitors will have to move quickly if they want to sign him this summer. PSV will reportedly demand a fee of €30m (approx. £25.8m) from anyone other than PSG.
Now, according to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Simons is set to make a ‘final decision’ on his future ‘soon.’
The report adds that Man Utd, Arsenal and Tottenham are firmly in the race for the Netherlands international. So, it will be interesting to see if one of the Premier League trio makes a concrete bid for Simons.
But, they will have to do so promptly, as PSG’s buyback clause is set to become valid in July.
BAYERN ‘WILLING’ TO SELL NEWCASTLE-LINKED MANE
Newcastle United have reportedly received a huge boost in the pursuit of Sadio Mane. Eddie Howe is keen to add some elite players to his squad this summer, so we could see the former Liverpool star make a sensational return to the Premier League.
Mane played a key role in the Merseyside club’s success before making the switch to Bayern Munich last summer. Indeed, during his time at Anfield, he won one Premier League title, a Champions League, and an FA Cup and League Cup.
With that in mind, he could help bring a winning mentality to the Newcastle dressing room. So, it will be interesting to see if the Magpies make a concrete offer for his services.
Now, according to German outlet Bild, Bayern Munich are ‘willing’ to let Mane leave the club this summer. This comes after the attacker had a changing-room bust up with Leroy Sane, seeing him temporarily suspended by the Bundesliga giants.
As previously reported by TEAMtalk, Newcastle can easily afford Mane’s transfer fee and wages. So, it will be interesting to see if whether Eddie Howe opts to bring him in or not.
