Euro Paper Talk: Man Utd destroy Liverpool plan as Fabrizio Romano reveals talks to seal instant deal for £70m target; Tottenham target huge Eric Dier upgrade from Barcelona
Manchester United are fastracking talks for a £70m Liverpool target and also plan to sign a top Swedish talent, Tottenham are readying a huge double swoop on Barcelona, while Wednesday’s Euro Paper Talk claims Arsenal are chasing a €50m Brazilian wonderkid.
MAN UTD OPEN TALKS OVER DEAL FOR ALEXIS MAC ALLISTER
Manchester United are leading the chase to sign Alexis Mac Allister this summer after it was revealed the player’s camp are in talks over a move.
The Brighton midfielder is enjoying an outstanding season for club and country, having helped Argentina to World Cup glory. However, it is his phenomenal form in the Premier League that is attracting several big-hitters to his abilities.
Indeed, he has proved one of the Premier League’s best central midfielder this season. Thriving initially under Graham Potter, the appointment of Roberto De Zerbi has seen the 24-year-old take his game to the next level.
And with 10 goals and one assist to his name, it is easy to see why he’s a man in demand.
To that end, reports recently claim there’s a growing possibility Mac Allister will leave Brighton this summer.
That chase is seemingly being led by Jurgen Klopp, with Liverpool keen to rebuild their midfield. As a result, Mac Allister is being targeted as a solid target for the Merseysiders.
However, they look likely to be beaten to the punch with Manchester United already ahead of them in the race.
And Fabrizio Romano states they have already held preliminary talks with his agents over a transfer. Furthermore, speaking to The United Stand on YouTube, are planning further talks soon in a bid to win the race.
“Man Utd are in a formal situation with Mac Allister. They had some conversation with the player camp, so I can confirm that Manchester United are in the race to sign Mac Allister.
“What’s the point? It’s about how much they want to spend on a midfielder and again it’s about the club situation because Liverpool at this moment at obsessed with midfielders.”
Man Utd to tie up rapid Mac Allister deal – with Swedish midfielder to follow
Romano claims United and Mac Allister are eager to quickly get a deal agreed for Mac Allister.
“So from what I understand they will speak again with the player’s camp in the next days. They will try to make a proposal,” he added. So they want to be fast on the Mac Allister story.
“On this deal, Mac Allister wants things to happen early in the window. He doesn’t want to wait until July or August to make his move. It’s going to be important to understand if Man Utd will be able to move in the next month to make a proposal.”
United, meanwhile, are also putting the wheels in motion for a second summer swoop.
And Eric ten Hag’s side are also hot on the trail for Djurgardens teenage midfielder Lucas Bergvall.
The 17-year-old is earning rave reviews in the Swedish Allsvenskan since his move from IF Brommapojkarna.
Now, multiple reports in Sweden claim his displays have caught United’s attention, with talk of a €7m switch heating up.
Indeed, PSV Eindhoven, AZ Alkmaar, AS Monaco, Marseille and Midtjylland are also on high alert for Bergvall.
However, it is United leading the chase with United’s Scandinavian scout, Tommy Moller Nielsen, keeping a close watch on him.
And they appear to be leading that chase having already taken Bergvall on trial back in 2021.
If United can agree a deal, the move will be delayed until the star turns 18 next year.
