Euro Paper Talk: Man Utd learn fee for Porto star as Solskjaer seeks upgrade

Moussa Marega, Alex Telles Porto

Manchester United are ready to meet the price required to sign a Brazilian left-back, while Arsenal are closing on the signing of an exciting pair, according to Wednesday’s Euro Paper Talk.

ALEX TELLES WANTED BY MAN UTD

Manchester United have been told they can sign Alex Telles for a cut-price fee this summer.

The Porto man is regarded as one of the best left-backs in world football and has a €40m exit clause in his contract.

The Brazilian has been strongly linked with Chelsea this summer as a cheaper alternative to Ben Chilwell.

But according to Correio da Manhã, the firmest interest comes from Manchester United.

They state United are ‘ready to advance’ their efforts to bring Telles to Old Trafford following an initial enquiry.

The paper states that the success Bruno Fernandes has enjoyed has convinced the Red Devils to look for further additions from the Primeira Liga.

It’s also claimed United now feel more confidence when negotiating with Portuguese clubs. They are known as notoriously tough customers but having landed Fernandes for an initial €55m, United have hope they can strike a similarly-pleasing deal for the 27-year-old.

As stated, Telles’ exit clause currently stands at €40m. But with under a year left on his deal, Porto are reported to have told United they can sign the player for a knock-down fee.

Correio da Manha states that the Portuguese side are likely to accept just €25m (£22.5m) for the player. However, they will push to achieve nearer the €30m (£27.1m) mark.

United are not alone in their enquiries with PSG also rumoured to be keen.

But the paper states United are the favourites. Any move for Telles will likely place doubts over the long-term future of Luke Shaw in the United side.
