Euro Paper Talk: Man Utd to pair Haaland with teenage superstar

Erling Haaland

Manchester United are actively planning to beat Real Madrid to two superstars, while Everton are firm admirers of a Serie A star – all in the latest Euro Paper Talk.

AMBITIOUS MAN UTD SWOOPS UNDERWAY

Manchester United pose a ‘great threat’ to Real Madrid in the battle to sign Erling Haaland and Edouardo Camavinga, according to a report.

Madrid, famous for their ‘galactico’ signings, decided not to splash out in the recent transfer window. Indeed, the Spanish giants, like clubs across Europe, instead counted the cost of the pandemic.

However, several reports in recent months have outlined how Madrid could again bring in the world’s best talent in the years to come.

Next summer could be key, with the club eyeing a move for Rennes midfielder Camavinga as well as Kylian Mbappe.

However, according to AS (via Sport Witness), Camavinga is also a ‘strategic objective’ for United. The Red Devils believe the 18-year-old could become Paul Pogba‘s successor when his fellow Frenchman departs next summer.

What’s more, United have already ‘activated’ the operation and are looking to beat Madrid to Camavinga’s signing.

As for Haaland, previous reports have outlined how he remains a target for United. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side missed out on his arrival in December, with the striker joining Borussia Dortmund.

However, Haaland reportedly has a £68million release clause in his contract that will activate in the summer of 2022.

Madrid believe the Norwegian can be Karim Benzema’s successor in the years to come. United, though, also remain keen and want to bring him to Old Trafford.

But the over-arching issue with Haaland is the fact that he is represented by super-agent Mino Raiola. Indeed, the Italian was partly the reason for United‘s chase in December failing.

What’s more, he reportedly frustrated Madrid officials last summer over a move for Pogba. As such, both teams will need to work with the agent if they are to sign Haaland.
