Euro Paper Talk: Man Utd star key in stunning cut-price deal for €150m Atleti ace

Manchester United are to pursue a priority move for a LaLiga star, while Inter are deep in talks over a move for a key Chelsea man – all in the latest Euro Paper Talk.

MAN UTD EYE UP SAUL RAID

Manchester United continue to hold a serious interest in Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez and will pursue a summer deal, according to a report.

Reports this summer linked the Red Devils with a move for the 25-year-old, whose agent denied such speculation.

According to Todofichajes, however, the Spaniard remains a ‘priority objective’ for United’s transfer committee. Indeed, he reportedly earned his status as a top target in March.

But while the Old Trafford giants did not pursue their supposed interest recently, Paul Pogba’s future at United could now play a key role in a future deal.

The Frenchman admitted recently that he is going through one of the most difficult periods of his career. What’s more, he compared international duty to a “breath of fresh air”.

Speculation has again surfaced that the 27-year-old could leave at the end of the season. As such, Todofichajes claims that United will resume negotiations with Atletico over Saul in January.

The hope is that when Pogba leaves at the end of the season, United can finalise their agreement with Atletico after several months of negotiations.

Furthermore, while Saul is an ‘untouchable’ under manager Diego Simeone, the Red Devils feel ‘convinced’ they can prise him away from the Spanish capital.

Saul’s market value is €70million (£62million), a price around which United feel they can sign him for. Indeed, that is despite Atletico insisting that he is worth up to €150million (£133million).

The Spain international, who has 19 international caps, has struggled with a muscle injury this season. However, he continues to be one of Simeone’s leaders both on and off the pitch.
