Manchester United are ready to raid cash-strapped Atletico Madrid after making a bid for an attacking midfielder, while Liverpool scouts will be on keeper watch over the weekend – both in Friday’s Euro Paper Talk.
UNITED BID FOR ATLETICO PLAYMAKER
Manchester United are reportedly ready to take advantage of financial constraints at Atletico Madrid by making a move for attacking midfielder Marcos Llorente.
With Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on the brink of penning a new Old Trafford deal, it looks like the club are ready to back him again in the summer transfer market.
A new striker and centre-back are the Red Devils boss’ main priorities. However, it looks like the opportunity to swoop for Llorente is too good to resist.
It could emerge that offer is too good to turn down for Atletico, who find themselves in a financial situation due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The report adds the player himself is happy at the Wanda Metropolitano, but his hands will be tied if Atletico accept United’s bid.
The playmaker has really made a name for himself over the last 18 months for Diego Simeone’s side. Indeed, Llorente has scored 15 goals in 72 appearances since his £35m move from rivals Real back in 2019.
Atletico now look set to scoop almost double what they paid for the player, as they look to balance the books.
