Euro Paper Talk: Man Utd in mix for record deal as Haaland exit estimates blown out of water

Manchester United remain in the hunt amid new claims about Erling Haaland’s exit fee, while the battle is on to sign a Liverpool star – both in all the latest Euro Paper Talk.

MAN UTD IN MIX FOR RECORD HAALAND DEAL

Manchester United remain a prime candidate to sign Erling Haaland, whose release clause is much higher than previously thought, according to a report.

Haaland is one of the most coveted players in world football after his recent rise to prominence.

Despite only being just over a year into his spell with Borussia Dortmund, he has done nothing to silence talk about where his next step could take him.

However, much of that talk has centred around the 20-year-old‘s release clause, which becomes active in the summer of 2022.

Several reports, including from journalist Fabrizio Romano, have claimed that Haaland will be available for €75million (£65million).

According to Bild, however, the exit fee is in fact worth over €100million (£87million).

In fact, Haaland would most likely become a ‘record’ sale for Dortmund, higher than the €130million (£112million) Barcelona paid for Ousmane Dembele in 2017.

However, even if Haaland’s release clause is worth three figures, he could leave for such a price this summer.

Dortmund sit sixth in the Bundesliga, six points outside the Champions League places. As such, losing their fight for a place in Europe’s prime competition next season would make his sale more likely.

As well as United, Chelsea and Manchester City are both keen on Haaland. Blues owner Roman Abramovich has supposedly promised Thomas Tuchel £260million to spend at the end of the season.

City boss Pep Guardiola, meanwhile, has admitted that money has driven his side’s 19-match unbeaten run in all competitions. They are reportedly looking for a new striker to replace Sergio Aguero.
