Euro Paper Talk: Man Utd reopen talks to sign €20m midfielder

Thiago Almada

Man Utd have resumed talks to sign an Argentine midfielder in January, while a United and Arsenal attacking target is facing calls for a six-month prison sentence – all in the latest Euro Paper Talk.

ARGENTINE SENSATION BACK ON UNITED’S RADAR

Manchester United have reportedly resumed talks with Argentine side Velez Sarsfield over the signing of a midfielder in January.

The Red Devils have been chasing Thiago Almada for some time, with the 19-year-old regarded as one of the top young talents in South American football.

And now TodoFichajes claims that United transfer chiefs are looking to wrap up the transfer in the new year.

Almada was a target for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer over the summer, with Leeds also looking to bring in the midfielder, who can also play out wide.

A recent report also suggested that Arsenal are in the running for his signature, with Mikel Arteta ordering a January swoop.

However, it would appear that United are in the hotseat to win the race for a player who will cost in the region of €20million.

If Almada does make the move to Old Trafford, he will likely compete with another United new boy Facundo Pellistri in trying to break into the first-team ranks.
