Manchester United have been given a lift in their chase for a prolific striker, whose name is not Erling Haaland, while Chelsea are considering a defender swap deal with Juventus – both in Friday’s Euro Paper Talk.
UNITED HANDED HUGE STRIKER TARGET BOOST
Since rejoining Eintracht in 2020 following his loan spell with AC Milan, the talented frontman has been in supreme form. In 29 matches in all competitions he has notched 24 goals and added nine assists.
That form has once again seen the Portugal international linked with some of Europe’s biggest clubs. One of those is said to be United, who hold a firm interest in the attacker.
The Red Devils are in need of a new No.9, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also eyeing a centre-back and a right-winger this summer.
Edinson Cavani’s Old Trafford future remains up in the air, with a move back to South America on the cards.
Anthony Martial has also had some real troubles in front of goal this season despite playing in his preferred central position.
A move for Tottenham frontman Harry Kane has been mooted but United would have to pay well in excess of £100m to land the England skipper.
To that end, Silva represents a much cheaper option – with the latest report suggesting a bargain release clause.
Sport1 chief reporter Patrick Berger states that 25-year-old can be bought for just £26m (€30m).
That would potentially be music to United’s ears and mean they could focus on bigger deals for a new centre-back and wide man.
