Man Utd are weighing up a double defender raid next summer, while an Arsenal star wants to find a new club in January – all in the latest Euro Paper Talk.
MAN UTD TO PLAN DOUBLE DEFENDER RAID
Manchester United are planning a double raid on top centre-backs Pau Torres and Dayot Upamecano, according to a report.
United targeted a centre-back in the summer transfer window but did not end up bringing a new recruit in. Indeed the Red Devils upgraded elsewhere, with Alex Telles and Edinson Cavani arriving.
However Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have looked shaky at the back recently, with Tottenham netting six at Old Trafford. Captain Harry Maguire – as well as partner Victor Lindelof – have been criticised.
Previous reports have claimed Villarreal’s Pau Torres is on United’s list of transfer targets, along with several other stars.
According to Todofichajes, however, Torres is a prime consideration. United will “address” the signing of the Spaniard in next summer’s transfer window, with the player worth around €65million (£58million).
Villarreal are keen to keep the 23-year-old but understand that a solid offer could tempt them to do business.
What’s more, RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano is another firm target for United, who want the Frenchman and Torres to form the ‘most fearsome central pair’ with the most promising potential in Europe.
Leipzig managed to keep hold of Upamecano this summer but there is a strong belief he could move on next year.
