GABRIEL VERON WANTED BY MANCHESTER UNITED
A number of leading European clubs look set to miss out on a Palmeiras sensation – with Manchester United already in pole position.
The 18-year-old forward has been earning rave reviews in his homeland since debuting in November 2019.
Palmeiras quickly realised his potential by securing him to a new deal with a €60m exit clause.
However, Sport claims they face a battle to hang on to his services with a number of clubs making their interest know.
As per the report, Barcelona, Lyon, Sevilla, Juventus and Manchester City have all expressed a wish to sign him.
However, they could all be beaten to the punch by United.
As per the article, officials at United have ‘already moved behind the scenes’ to try and get ahead of the queue for Veron.
United’s apparent movet has disappointed Barcelona, in particular, says Sport. The Spanish side’s chances are being slowed by the presidential elections at the Nou Camp.
While Veron has a €60m exit clause, it’s reported he could be allowed to leave for nearer €20m. Palmeiras are hoping to beat the record €33m fee they received from City for Gabriel Jesus. However, in the current climate that looks unlikely, with a fee of €20m being mooted.
Veron has eight goals and three assists in 33 games for the Brazilian side.
