Euro Paper Talk: Ten Hag ecstatic with top two Man Utd targets on brink of blockbuster double deal; Klopp wants Dutch star at Liverpool ‘at any cost’
Improved Manchester United bids are set to see agreements reached for two top targets, Liverpool are launching a big-money offer to land a Dutch star Jurgen Klopp loves, while Tuesday’s Euro Paper Talk has news of a €30m Chelsea raid on Lazio.
MAN UTD PUSHING HARD TO SIGN RASMUS HOJLUND
Manchester United are closing on the signing of Rasmus Hojlund according to the latest reports in Italy.
Erik ten Hag is desperate to bring in more firepower this summer with only Marcus Rashford (30 goals) and Bruno Fernandes (14) getting into double figures for United last season.
And while the likes of Harry Kane, Victor Osimhen and Randal Kolo Muani have been linked, all three look too costly to pursue.
As a result, Ten Hag and Co are settling on a move for Atalanta’s Danish star Hojlund.
The 20-year-old striker enjoyed an excellent first season in Serie A, scoring 10 goals in 34 appearances. However, it is on the international stage, where he has reallt thrived, netting six times in as many games for Denmark.
As a result, United are now making a push to bring Hojlund to Old Trafford.
Per il Corriere di Bergamo, United’s opening bid of €46m has been rejected almost immediately. However, with Atalanta willing to sell for €60m, the €14m difference is described as ‘really thin’.
Per the report, Ten Hag is ‘willing to do anything’ to get his hands on the star. And despite Juventus’ late interest, there is a belief that a move to Manchester United is on the brink of being finalised.
Man Utd transfers: Andre Onana move close as Saudi talk is dismissed
United are also reportedly making rapid progress in their push to sign Andre Onana.
The Red Devils have settled on the Inter Milan stopper as their dream replacement for David De Gea. The long-serving Spanish star saw his contract at the club expire last week and a renewal has not been reached.
United have since held talks over a possible deal for Onana and have been encouraged by reports that the Champions League finalists are willing to sell. To that end, their asking price is reportedly fixed at €50m.
The Red Devils have seen an opening offer, worth just €25m, swiftly batted away by Inter.
And their hopes looked to have taken a nosedive amid claims Al Nassr were willing to meet his asking price.
However, il Gazzetta dello Sport is adamant that no offer from the Saudi side is on the table.
And while they claim United do not want to go above €40m to €45m, there is a belief an agreement can soon be reached.
That’s because there is a willingness of all parties to find common ground, with an agreement described as soon expected to arrive.
Furthermore, the report expects things to get moving on the Onana front today. Elsewhere, reports in Italy claim United’s improved offer has already been launched, with a bid of €40m, plus €5m in bonuses likely to be agreed.
Reports that the double deal will undoubtedly delight Ten Hag. Hojlund and Onana will likely be signings two and three for United with a move for Mason Mount also nearing conclusion.
