Lautaro Martinez celebrates a goal for Argentina v Venezuela

TIELEMANS AND MARTINEZ SET FOR ARSENAL TRANSFERS

Arsenal are ready to boost their squad with quality rather than quantity this summer – and have two top stars in their sights.

The Gunners look well placed to bring Champions League football back to Emirates Stadium next season with a top-four finish.

As such, work is underway to not just establish Arsenal among the English elite, but to also make waves in Europe.

Top of their agenda is a new striker, and reports in Italy claim talks are progressing for Lautaro Martinez.

He was mentioned as a Gunners target earlier this week, and now it seems a deal is edging closer.

That’s after Calciomercato claims Arsenal technical director Edu was quoted a fee of £59 to secure Martinez this summer.

Martinez is rightly regarded as one of Serie A’s elite strikers, having 87 goal contributions in 171 appearances for the Nerazzurri.

The Gunners still hope to persuade Alexandre Lacazette to stay, but Eddie Nketiah appears likely to depart.

Meanwhile, the Gunners are also looking likely to win the race for Youri Tielemans.

Arsenal may move for Lauturo Martinez instead of Broja

Chelsea may sell Armando Broja this summer with Arsenal interested but Lauturo Martinez may want to leave Inter Milan

The Leicester midfielder will have just a year left on his deal come the summer and looks set to move for £40m.

The Foxes have seen multiple efforts to extend his stay fail, with another round of talks drawing a blank.

And with the player looking to play Champions League football, Nieuwsblad claims the Gunners lead the charge.
